🎂The cake has been served, the last of the partygoers are calling Ubers and Space & Time 149 is a wrap. We are setting up for May now.
The ebook released on April 9. The print version released on April 16. Find yours at https://books2read.com/space-time-149
If you missed it, S&T founder Gordon Linzner, 2nd publisher Hildy Silverman and I got together to celebrate the magazine’s 60th birthday (and Gordon’s 77th!) with James Chambers and Carol Gyzander on Galactic Terrors. You can watch that here:
I’m also sharing a poet a day for National Poetry Month, with the flash stories and sponsors on my Substack Notes. I will try to cross share to the rest of my socials, but you can count on them being shared on Notes. Feel free to grab them and repost wherever you like. https://authortunities.substack.com/notes
The Space & Time Podcast is every Tuesday at 2:33 pm EDT here: https://authortunities.substack.com/podcast
If you want to meet your fellow contributors, read your work and possibly chat with Gordon, Hildy or myself, be sure to come hang out with us on April 30 for our S&T Open Hours https://authortunities-hub.mn.co/posts/99349384

Space & Time Is Going Monthly
Beginning April 2026, Space & Time will move from biannual publication to a monthly format.
This shift allows us to publish significantly more speculative fiction and poetry while maintaining the editorial care and rigor the magazine has upheld since 1966.
Each month will feature:
flash fiction pieces (1,000 words or fewer)
poems
A focused thematic direction
Dedicated promotion for each contributor
April will launch with a special National Poetry Month issue featuring 30 poets.
Issues will be available in print and ebook through major retailers, libraries, and independent platforms including Bookshop.org.
Submissions will open on the first of each month, with new issues releasing on the first Tuesday.
This transition marks the beginning of Space & Time’s sixth decade with a renewed commitment to circulation, sustainability, and the long-term support of speculative voices.
The legacy continues.

Space and Time is now a minimalist monthly digest of themed speculative flash fiction and poetry, published in ebook and print on the first Tuesday of each month beginning April 2026. We seek boundary-breaking work in science fiction, fantasy, horror, magical realism, and creative hybrids.
We accept flash fiction up to 1,000 words and poetry up to 35 lines. Pay is $0.01/word for fiction and $5 per poem, plus a digital contributor copy. Selected pieces may also be featured as audio readings on the Space and Time podcast.
All submissions are handled through Duotrope’s Duosuma Submissions Manager:

Space & Time is currently undergoing a period of reorganization as we work to ensure the magazine’s long-term legacy and to establish a publishing model that allows us to release issues more regularly in a way that is both financially and time sustainable.
This is a behind-the-scenes restructuring focused on care, continuity, and sustainability.
A more detailed announcement about the future of Space & Time will be shared soon. Watch this space for upcoming updates and announcements.
For the moment, regular submissions are closed while these changes are underway. We appreciate your patience and support as we do this work thoughtfully and intentionally.
Thank you for being part of the Space & Time community.
