Yeah, back in 2002 I fell for PublishAmerica's scam (I was new to this game and foolishly thought they were legit) - No fees, but they also did a crap job editing, no marketing and totally relied on us authors buying our own books. Thankfully, seven years later I got back the rights to the book...gave it a real editing, and re-write, and now am trying to get it published as a much better product (the story was good, it just never got the polish it needed from them). So glad writers now have more access to scam alerts like yours and Writer Beware (I also used to follow Predators & Editors)... PublishAmerica was a hard lesson but it was certainly educational.

I’m so glad you got your rights back! It’s sad there are so many predators out there, but that’s not new. This is why community is so important, I think. We are stronger, and smarter, together.
