I agree, although most horror writers would not identify with "speculative," which to many of us is synonymous with science fiction. I write mostly horror but also SF/F/M, and nonfiction. Most of my poetry fits into the genres.
I primarily write speculative fiction (fantasy, horror, slipstream, gothic, and Indigenous Futurism), but also write CNF, poetry, plays, book reviews, memoir, and literary fiction.
Another vote for multiple choice. I write urban fantasy, science fiction, paranormal mystery, futuristic fantasy, and paranormal romance - spec fic would cover a lot of bases.
This really should have included the option to select more than one. I'm pretty much equally divided between sf, fantasy, and horror.
I thought about making "speculative" one genre, which it really is.

Horror writers shouldn't identify with speculative fiction. It is speculative, not horrific. Harlan Ellison, for instance and urban fantasy stuff.
it's 2023 one just can't go around assuming genres
😂
I write hardboiled, two-fisted, blood and guts pulp fiction.

I also write fantasy; and academic writing

I don't identify with any of those categories, I'm more of a RomCozy/Mystery author!
Crime, mystery, urban fantasy, speculative fiction
I would have picked "speculative fiction" since I do also write some science fiction and a bit of horror plus weird fiction.
Horror with a dip into speculative and even CNF once in a while
CNF????
