I love the message of working alongside one another. The collaborative poem I was a part of was one of the best experiences. Open mind on both ends. Eye opening. Seeing things in ways I had never seen before. But I think, no judgement, safe space and openness and respect for each other and their contribution was the most important. Something was created that was us but different than our normal wheelhouse. A beautiful fusion.

Yes, magic happened and we watched it unfold in real time.

Great article about restraint. I once took a polished piece of work (multiple workshops-professionally edited) to an open workshop hoping for feedback to help me put on the finishing touches. A couple of peoples’ markups (from a perspective how they would write and useless to me) had a greater word count than my text (I may be exaggerating a little—a little). And another person had used AI to make comments. Even in the paid workshops I’ve taken at the UCLA Writers Extension, there are people who cannot see past their own style and concepts. As a former professional engineer, where I worked with exact science, strict codes, and proven equations, I fell in love with writing for many reasons, but one main one was because there are no concrete rules but instead infinite possibilities in style and technique.

RE: permission and all that - - I am sorry to see that access to Space and Time Magazine is now a private gated community with high fences. I understand why the change is being made -- financial gain -- but I still feel sad.

The Substack is now paying for the magazine production costs. That's why I can expand from bi-yearly to monthly.

Linda, Space & Time isn't that at all. Submissions are open to all, the same as ever. It will be more widely available. Where did you get that idea that it was closed to a community?

"Where..?" From this post right here. But glad to hear otherwise. Thanks, Angela.

Oh, you mean the Q&A. Yes, that is a benefit for Members to say thank you. It's because of the Members that I'm able to start paying for monthly content. Submissions will remain free to send work. Space & Time will be available in print and ebook, as will as featured in a podcast each week. I'm so excited for April to unveil it.
