Authortunities is a year old now and I think it’s the best thing I’ve ever published. With this issue, I have graduated my assistant Lenoff to working on Space and Time’s neglected social media and I’ve taken back over here. Authortunities Year Two has begun with an audit of every entry. There’s also a new form anyone can submit to. I’ll include all I can. Priority is always given to paid submission calls and no fee contests. Readings, open mics, submission calls, contest, workshops, grants… send it to me here, or just click the mailbox below.
And now for a really special announcement: The first-ever Linzner Awards! Nominations will open on April 9 for poetry, fiction, nonfiction and art previously published in Space and Time magazine issues published in 2023: #143, #145 and #146. Voting by readers will begin September 9 with the award winners announced during the first-ever LaikaCon (Oct. 30-Nov. 3). Watch this space for more details very soon. There will also be a special nomination for works from all of Space and Time in August. Why open nominations on April 9? To celebrate Space and Time founder Gordon Linzner’s birthday, of course!

What’s Been Going On…
🟠 The Horror Writers Association blog has a WiHM interview series here.
🟠 William Meikle is having a Spring Equinox Giveaway. One winner will win six supernatural ebooks. Enter the giveaway here.
🟠 I was quoted in this great essay on craft by Eugen Bacon on speculative poetry and why we need it. It’s great because of what Eugen said, not because of the quote… I was chuffed to be a part. 🥰 Read FOR WRITERS: Speculative Poetry Is Alive! here.
🟠 If you missed the sixth annual Summer Scares list on National Library Lover’s Day, you can read it here along with a link to the Summer Scares resource page.
🟠 Interested in your own Substack newsletter? Here’s a free workshop series on the basics. https://substack.com/grow
🟠 I finished reading an ARC of The Barricade by Stephanie Ellis to be published by Lycan Valley Press. I can’t wait until this comes out. It’s a really original and good story with a regular, older woman as a hero.
🟠 The Science Fiction and Fantasy Poetry Association just published the 2024 Rhysling Award Candidates for poems published in 2023 here. Proud to have a poem nominated, but even more proud to see all the poems from work I’ve published from the HWA Poetry Showcase X, The Lore of Inscrutable Dreams and Space and Time.
🟠 I just finished reading Dead Girl, Driving and Other Devastations by Carina Bissett for WiHM and I loved it. Truly fresh horror here. Find it on Amazon.
My Writes…
I posted an interview with Joseph Yoshimasu Kamiya │ Ryūkyūan Sanshin Musician and Filmmaker this last week to celebrate his brand new album. Ever wonder what a Ryūkyūan sounds like? You’re welcome.
